University of Kyrenia Faculty of Education has been hosted Near East University Cyprus Research Center Director and Cyprus Writers Union President Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur.

University of Kyrenia Faculty of Education organized a seminar with participation of Near East University Cyprus Research Center Director and Cyprus Writers Union President Prof. Dr. Şevker Öznur which titled as “Turkish Cypriot Literature from Past to Present”.

UoK Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, vice-rectors, deans, department heads, lecturers and students attended the seminar that held on 25 May 2022, at the conference hall of the University of Kyrenia Grand Library,

Giving information about the event, University of Kyrenia Faculty of Education, Turkish Language Teaching Department Coordinator Specialist Sevda Yolcu, thanked especially Rector Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Rüveyde Bundak and Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı, all participants and speaker Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur.

Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur, on the other hand, enriched his presentation with the visuals of books, newspapers and magazines, in which he touched upon Turkish Cypriot literature from past to present, as well as literary figures, especially Namık Kemal, and their works and contributions to today’s literature.

At the end of the seminar, moderated by specialist Sevda Yolcu, Vice Rector of University of Kyrenia and Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Gökmen Dağlı. presented Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur an appreciation plaque.

Answering the questions after the seminar, Prof. Dr. Şevket Öznur also presented books to the students.
